We’re a quirky northeast Portland neighborhood with a strong community & a ton of love, and we’re really glad you’re here.

Our Mission

The mission of the Historic Mississippi Avenue Business Association (HMBA) is to promote, develop, and preserve the North Portland business community as a desirable and vibrant place to work, shop, and live.

Community forward.

Every year, we put on special events like the Mississippi Street Fair, Giving Tuesday, Halloween Trick or Treat, Ice Cream Socials, and the a holiday celebration as fun ways to foster connections as neighbors and community members, and give back to deserving local organizations.

Iconic Portland Weird.

“North Mississippi Avenue in Portland delivers a hipster experience as reliably as the rain. The street’s commercial district, which runs five blocks from North Fremont Street up to North Skidmore Street, has coffee-roasting equipment, saltwater aquariums, chandeliers made with recycled wine bottles, jewelry cast from animal sex organs and possibly the best corned beef hash ever fried.” – The New York Times
